
Dr. Sumudu Warnakulasuriya, President – IFSTSL
Dr. Sumudu N. Warnakulasuriya is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Food Science & Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She holds a Ph.D. in Food Science from Canada, along with multiple postgraduate qualifications that reflect her strong interdisciplinary expertise in food chemistry, natural products chemistry and food microbiology. Her research interests encompass protein science, natural products, and functional foods, with a particular focus on plant-based proteins and bioactive compounds. Beyond academia, she has played a key role in promoting innovation, technology transfer, and entrepreneurship within the food sector. She has previously served as a Senior Research Scientist and Director of the Science & Technology Business Centre at the Industrial Technology Institute (ITI), Sri Lanka. She is also a former President of the Institute of Food Science & Technology Sri Lanka (IFSTSL).
